At the end of January, Oakville resident Ayverie Castor was operated on for a malignant tumour on her brainstem. In an effort to express their gratitude to McMaster Children’s Hospital for the excellent care that Ayverie received as well as to help support other children who are diagnosed with Cancer, a special fundraiser by the Castor family was held at the River Oaks Community Church in late April. Donations at the door was the price of admission as there was a number of activities for kids such as a bake sale, face painting and a visit from ‘Cinderella’. During the event Ayverie’s mother along with her aunt and other participants cut off their hair which will in turn be used for wigs for cancer patients.
